Sony Bravia 46" 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV KDL-46VL160 Metallic Silver Bought this TV plus Sony BDV-T11 (Blu-ray Home Theater). Now, I can put a DVD in, and it turns on TV and starts playing onscreen! No menu surfing. Very nice! Easy out-of-the-box setup. As other reviewers mentioned...Turn off light sensor!!! Sony should disable this feature. It really does make the picture quality look really bad. Thanks to previous reviewers for mentioning this. You save me hours of grief.

My main concern was reliability. I heard about most reliable being the three "S":
-Sony
-Samsung
-Sharp

I saw too many posts mentioning Sharp power supply failures. Same for some Panasonic plasmas from last 2-3 years. Also heard some complaints about some of the Samsung models. Much less with this Sony model. So, I decided to buy it. I hope this post helps. God bless you and good luck!

I absolutely LOVE this TV! The picture is clear, I have had no motion issues and the color is both brillant and natural looking at the same time. It doesn't take up much more space than my old 200 pound 32 inch tube TV but it is all picture. It's easy to plug in and use. Switching picture modes to eliminate strips on the sides or bottom is easy and their are four choices so you find the right one with a push of a button. Recommend having some good quality HDMI cables on hand. I had a cheap one and it didn't work at all. If there is a down side, it's that I find myself watching more TV!

Don't even go there . . . - S. W. - North Carolina
I bought two of these at a local store in the spring. They were for guest rooms that are occupied maybe 4 or 5 weekends a year. Got home and decided to check Amazon reviews. (I know, cart before the horse.) So, I read the reviews and think hmmm . . . what are the chances this TV is REALLY that bad? Pretty good chances, as it turns out. But the reviews had haunted me. (I actually hung on to the boxes until October, and the TVs were working when I checked them then.) Today I went in one of the guest rooms to change the linens, so I turned it on, just for kicks. Dead as a door nail. The TV has not been watched more than 20 hours total since purchased. The second is still working. At least the reviews made me nervous enough that I saved all my paperwork, including receipt, and for once I actually did mail in the warranty card. But save yourself the heartache, and Just Don't Do It.

Sylvania LC195SLX 19-Inch HD Flat Panel LCD TV This is a quality name brand product at less money than most knock-off products that might not last as long. Sound is better than I hoped for. I planned to use the earphone jack to run extra speakers but this was not necessary. Lots of connection outlets but I just use a digital cable. It has very fine picture and no "dead" pixels. It took a bit of time (15 minutes) to auto select the channels but it has done a great job of reading all the various digital channels that the digital decoder box provides but without needing the digital box converter. That set up was only needed initially -- now the TV remembers all the presets even when TV is unplugged.

It was easy to set up, and move in, and so far I haven't had any problems with it (It's been almost a year). I would definitely recommend this product for anyone on a budget who still wants a nice t.v.

Samsung LN19A450 19-Inch 720p LCD HDTV, Black This TV has a great high definition picture, not so much on digital channels that are not HD. I paid around 0 for this TV and use it in my kitchen. I would not pay that now for it since prices have come down. Probably would go with the 450 model on such a small TV, no real reason to spend the extra for the 650 and higher unless the Touch of color appeals to you. Don't think there is much difference in picture quality between the two as the picture quality of the 650 via digital cable is pretty bad. Has a serious lag when turning on and off as well.

I was initially disappointed with the reception on this tv. I was using cheap rabbit ears and couldn't get all the channels. Thinking the problem might be with the antenna, I just bought a new one yesterday and I am getting more channel than I need and I am very pleased! Sharp LC19SK25U 19-Inch 720p LCD HDTV This is a very good small TV. HD looks crisp, sd cable looks about as good as you can hope for. My only problem is that this TV is identical to the LC19sb25u. The only difference is that this one comes with a different stand that has a spot to rest the kitchen timer/clock with simple remote functions. It is a very good timer, and we do find it convenient to have the buttons on the front instead of side, but you can save to if you get the one without.

Edit:[As far as the speakers(a main complaint on the LC19sb25u customer reviews); I did not notice it at first because the problems seem to depend on what is on and the channel, but they are a problem. Sometimes the volume is too low no matter how high you have it. Other times it is loud and distorted. The volume scale has very little change from about 20 to 60(max). My biggest complaint is the bass. It is not there. It is shameful watching something in HD without at least decent sound. Realizing this now I would rate this a three overall(good picture, bad speakers). If you are hooking this up to a sound system then it shouldn't matter to you. But if you are just trying to extend your HD to a small place that a sound system is impractical, such as a kitchen, you need to look elsewhere.]

On a side note, this TV (and no doubt other TVs that can decode QAM signals) was able to get all the regular analog cable channels AND the local HD channels that our cable provider offers over the same cable. I would definitely suggest having the TV automatically find all digital and analog channels, you never know what you might get. This saved us from using an A/B switch with a OTA antenna to get some HD use out of the TV.

I bought this TV to mount on the wall in the bathroom where I can soak in the tub and watch my favorite programs or catch the news while preparing for work but could have used this TV anywhere in the home. The picture is amazingly sharp and vivid. Sharpe Manufacturing makes their TV'S to receive both analog and digital broadcast without having to adjust anything to do so. The TV knows what to do with either signal and without having to pay extra to the cable provider for digital service. The TV arrived on time in perfect condition from Focus Electronics and Appliances through Amazon and I could not be more happy with all involved. Thank You!

Sansui HDLCD1912 19-Inch 720p LCD HDTV, Black I wouldn't rave about this TV at all. There's nothing spectacular about it in any way. It's completely average, but that's what I bought it for. We picked up this TV to use with our treadmill so we were really just looking for something with a decent price. This one was the lowest price and met the specifications we wanted.

Having said that, I am completely satisfied. It has a digital tuner so it picked up all the "over-the-air" channels just fine. However, the process was ridiculously long. It took probably around an hour to auto-program the TV channels. I didn't clock it. I just walked away and then the TV popped on so much later that I had completely forgot it was working.

The picture is fine. It's not the best, but it's good enough. The sound is a bit lacking though. At its loudest, you can't even hear it over the treadmill so we have to hook up headphones to it, which is fine. Sound quality is average.

Other than that, this TV DOES have an HDMI output. I know one reviewer was complaining that it didn't, but maybe he got an older model. The one I got definitely has an HDMI port though I believe the model number might be HDLCD1912a. I suppose they don't make the plain 1912 anymore, I don't know. For this TV, though, with it's average quality, an HDMI cable is really just a convenience of having one cable and not something you need to get maximum sound and video quality.

So, if you're looking for something simple to throw in your kitchen or in your workout room or something like that, then this is the way to go. But if you're looking for something for your Xbox or Playstation or as your main TV, then I would suggest spending a little bit more money and getting a better device. This one is sure NOT to wow anyone, but it will get the job done.

As others warned, the channel changing is painfully slow as is the start up. The audio on CD and DVD is barely perceptible (probably a pre-amp problem), and the picture randomly cuts in and out. Beware going past the 30 day return policy for Amazon as Coby will charge you by MONEY ORDER for them to fix or replace the unit, that is, after YOU have paid return shipping. Never again. And of course, it will take 8 weeks for them to do it.

LG 19LH20 19-Inch 720p LCD HDTV, Gloss Black i bought this tv from amazon about a week ago along with a toshiba dvd recorder/player (DR570) and i am impressed with both products. i did my research on lcd tvs before i bought this. i was looking for something between 14" and 18" for my bedroom. everyone told me i should get a bigger one because it would look small in my bedroom. well, i don't need a 48" tv for anything and was always satisfied with my 13" orion tv i bought at walmart about 10 years ago.. (time for an upgrade). i really wanted a 16" but couldn't find one, so i settled for the lg 19".

i recieved this tv in prompt time (ordered march 19th standard shipping, recieved march 25th via ups). setup was a breeze. i programmed this tv with a universal remote that i already had for use with my old tv. the picture comes in great. volume is awesome. there is a slight delay when changing channels, but i got used to that fairly quickly. also, i've been so used to turning on my tv and immediately it comes on.. the lg takes a few seconds, but i expected that with any new tv i would purchase. i love the fact that there is a sleep setting on this set. i also love the fact that there are different picture settings i can choose from. i can set my own or use the preset natural, cinema, sport, or vivid settings.. (there may be a few more i forgot to mention). the same with the sound.. i can set my own or use the preset options instead.

the sound and picture quality are good with the set, but they are not the best that there is out there. if you're looking for a less pricey set to meet your basic needs, this is the tv for you.

i love the fact that this tv is fairly mobile. i've moved a lot in the past, and i can't stress enough how much of a pain it is to have to unhook every cord and cable from a big bulky set to move. this set is light and sleek looking. the stand does not swivel, which is kind of a downer, but the pros definitely outweigh this one con. also, i love the fact that there is cord management in the back. a cheap little plastic clip can hold all of my cords together to help hide them a bit and make this lg tv look a little more impressive. the plastic clip is a little cheap yes, but it's in the back of the tv, so who cares?

it's a great tv and i would definitely buy a larger one for my living room when the time is right.

I love this tv. Bought it for my kitchen, and tried another first but sent it back and ordered this one. I'm not a tech-geek, so this amazon page, with its detailed look at features/workability, really helped me to decide on this one. Very happy with it. The picture is excellent and the color/features adjustments are easy for me to understand. I can get the picture I want as far as brightness/color depth/sharpness. Love it! Would definitely buy this brand again--am hoping to save enough to get a 32" for the bedroom next.

I've had this TV for about two years and it is now experiencing a power on-off cycling problem. The TV continuously powers on and off by itself, never displays a proper picture, and is basically unusable. The only way to turn the TV off is to unplug it. I've found many online reviews which describe this problem with all Samsung LCD TVs, and everyone is very dissatisfied with their TV and Samsung customer service. My TV is out of warranty, so I'm out of luck. However, I strongly advise not to buy a Samsung LCD TV.

Memorex MLT1921 19-Inch Widescreen LCD HDTV So far, I have no complaints. This TV doubles as a monitor, and it serves that purpose well. After dialing down the brightness and adjusting my computer's resolution to match the 1440 x 900 resolution of the TV, it looks great. The connection is DVI (computer) to HDMI (TV). The TV also has a VGA connection you could use, and I imagine the quality is just as good.

Since I don't have HD service from my satellite provider, I get only standard resolution broadcast, so an s-video connection was fine for that. Quality is so-so, but since I was more interested in the TV's use as a monitor, I'm not complaining. I can always upgrade to HD later, or try out an antenna.

Emerson LC195EM9 19 inch LCD HDTV I got this for Christmas in 2008 (i think). Have had SD signal programming coming through since I got it, and it sounds and looks fine. I have my Xbox 360 plugged in running at 720P, doesn't look too bad, not fantastic, but not bad HD.

Only problem is that it seems that the pixels are slowly dying away, only a few a year, but its not noticeable from a distance.

Other than that its a pretty standard TV, nothing fantastic, but it gets the job done.

- Finicky remote tends to double your key pushes: 2 often registers as 22 and so on.
- The sound quality is truly appalling, way beyond tinny. It sounds like a cell phone, except without the excuse of fitting in your pocket.
Increasing the volume level simply generates intrusive distortion, but not much more volume.

Bottom Line:
- Speaker performance is inadequate even for a small, quiet room.
- Product rates zero stars. I returned it.

VIZIO VX200E 20-Inch ECO 720p LCD HDTV After comparing similiar sized TV's at Best buy, Sam's Club, and Sears, I purchased this TV at sears for 9 last thursday, it was a an internet purchase returned to the store. I like the fact that it was 20 inches not 19, and I liked the Vizio over similar offerings from Samsung, Dynex, Sylvania, and Insignia. I purchased it for use in my home office, would have prefered a black housing instead of white, but that was not a concern. I got it set up and hooked it to my Dish Network DVR via coax cable and the non hd channels look good when setting the tv to the Zoom 1 setting, and watching the Winter Olympics on the local NBC HD channel looks fine, I went on the internet and looked and the recommended viewing distance for a 20" to 5 feet so it looks a little fuzzy closer up as compared to it being in VGA mode for the computer, the other knock on this Tv from what I read was that it has only a 160 degree viewing radius, but since I am will primarilty the only one watching it, was also not a concern. The tricky part was hooking it to my notebook computer, which was the part of the reason for buying it. I used a VGA cable as oppose to HDMI, the native resolution is 1600x900 and windows 7 set it up correctly, but on the TV the computer image was pushed way right, and up. I called tech support and the women was of no use in assisting me in correcting the problem. I moved internet explorer over to the tv screen and after maximizing the window, I then using the TV settings, played with the horizontal alignment, size, and vertical alignment and got it adjusted correctly and it looks just fine. The remote is quite large, but its no bigger than my DVR one so I don't mind. My initial opinion is that its a great tv for the money, so only time will tell on the the durability.

Purchased the Vizio VX200E 20" HDTV last night at Sam's Club for 0. I had been considering a Samsung LN19B360 19" HDTV to replace our older non-HD Samsung 19" LCD on the kitchen counter. The Vizio VX200E caught my eye with a great picture, larger yet still compact size plus a lower price compared to the Samsung... so off I went with the Vizio. I'm connected directly to the cable... no cable box, no outside antenna. When given the "Turn On" command, the set does take a few seconds to "warm up" before switching on, but that's not a show-stopper. After going through the setup procedure, we were pleased to be watching a top-notch picture considering the price. Broadcast channels in HD over the cable look great on this set. Sound quality is satisfactory though a little hot on treble... haven't tried to adjust sound or the picture/ color... default settings are quite good.

I wonder if TV remote design engineers use the products they design?? Seems that none of the TV remotes are flat on the bottom so one can push remote buttons with the unit sitting on the table/ counter without ending up with the remote flipping over.

Overall I am very pleased with this product... after less than 24 hrs of use... it's performance over time will determine my long-term view of quality & reliability.

Sceptre X195BV-HD 19-Inch 720p LCD HDTV, Black I had picked during the month of Dec 2009 really cheap! Brand new for 2009 model was listed on their site. As it states 19" LCD HDTV 720p/1080i is actually 18.5. So that is the only downfall to this set. Using the set as HDTV not bad I can use DTV feature even on COX without the digital HDTV box, this might vary within the States though. Anyway watching a CBS HD on a football game is very sharp looking with vivid colors. Using a digital HDTV box will yield better enhancements that the RAW broadcast signal. The set only has one input for each: RF, Composite-Video + Stereo Audio, S-Video, Component Video, VGA VGA/DVI shared using a adapter through VGA for DVI (HDCP video device only) and HDMI. There is two audio inputs one for the PC and the other is for headphones. The power supply unit is not built-in just like a laptop type with cord. All the connections are to the left side of the set. You can see them, but you can also use Velcro to hide them.

Using the DTV feature does give you a DTV Program Guide that works only with CBS HD. But it does work. The prior member said the sound wasn't good. I don't know about that member but I ran Hauppauge MediaMVP through it using MY Music Player and the MP3 sounds crisp and loud Yes the volume on this set is loud. Which isn't bad the volume amp is stronger than even some larger HDTV as it uses that new clone sound feature that comes from under the screen. There is a amber blue light that comes on when you turn on the set and then when you turn it off turns to red. Not bright blue glow like other sets in its class.

The remote has a lot of tiny buttons for all kinds of stuff. You also get favorite menu feature doesn't seem to be a limit to how huge of a list that can hold all your SD or HD channels. Any universal learning remote can be use with this set is what I use with it.

I just got this today, and I was very happy with the picture, but the sound is pretty bad. It is OK for me because I will use it in the kitchen and only for short viewing, but I am disappointed that TV makers disregard sound this much. I would have probably not bought it had I heard it first, although I am not sure if other 19" TVs are any better.

Samsung LNT1954H 19-Inch LCD HDTV White Don't pay too much attention to the negative reviews. I bought this refurbished TV from Amazon in May and have it mounted on the bedroom wall. Picture (SD/HD) and SRS sound are good. Start-up is a little slow, around 10 sec. Also manual touch controls are a little sensitive, takes a while to get used to. You can always use the remote, which works fine. Remote must have RF, since I can point it at the opposite wall and it still works. Shop around, go for this 2007 model if you can get it for 0 or less. Otherwise, get the L19A331 model.

Useful tip: for wall mount, top of TV should not be more than a couple of inches above eye level. Otherwise, picture will be a little dark.

Sony Bravia M-Series KDL-19M4000/D 19-Inch 720p LCD HDTV, White with Orange Accent Good reliable TV. I mounted this TV in my motorhome although the instructions from Sony state that the TV should not be installed in a moving vehicle. I mounted it to a wall mount and it works just fine. Good sound and picture. The only drawback is that I move my motorhome often and the TV autotune takes up to 50 minutes to do an Autosearch to reset available channels in the area.
My old set took only about 5 minutes. Otherwise we love the set and would recommend it.

I love this TV. It seems to only work best with HD channels, but my mother's 1999 tube works even better with HD channels so I don't know what the big deal with HDTVs. The picture quality was disappointing to say the least, and you have to jingle the sound options around a bit before you find what you like. This television is beautiful when it's off. It looks so high tech. I love it though, it gets the job done and it slim enough to fit on my little desk. My roomate has an LG though and her picture quality is off the chain, but mine looks better when its off so HA!

FAVI L1918A-V-BL 19-Inch 720p LCD HDTV with Built in DVD Player/Card Reader/USB, Jet Black I bought this TV as a gift for my gadgety-loving significant other to replace the use of our laptops to watch movies on when we go to bed Our DVD collection is a random mix of UK, US, digital copies of movies on flash drives, and Ecuadorian (mostly 'no region coded') DVDs - it plays everything without a problem! The TV is used as a bedroom TV as we put on movies before we go to sleep, so the features that we use have been: movies, music, and pictures from a flash drive or dvds and the sleep timer...we don't use it to watch TV so I cannot comment upon that (other than that we plugged it in once and it seemed fine). The picture is great, it reads the flash drive quickly and the menus are easy to navigate. The remote covers all of the things we need - ie changing subtitles, audio tracks, sleep timer, etc. The one con - the sound is quiet! This is not a problem for us since we use it on its lowest volumes anyway, but to use this as a regular TV without external speakers would be difficult because it is quiet.

This was the ONLY 19" flatscreen with a built-in multi-region dvd player and other media player that met our needs, and I'm quite happy with it for the price! If the sound was better, I would give it 5 stars.

I wanted a TV with built in DVD for the kitchen. Never heard of this brand but the price was right. I've had it for a few months and I'm happy with it. Picture is fine, DVD works, remote works. I wouldn't want it for a primary tv. For having in the kitchen and watching morning news, TV or part of a movie while I'm getting dinner going or cleaning up, it's perfect.

Sharp LC19SB24U 19-Inch 720p LCD HDTV, Black I'll put this here because I'm not subscribing to some goofy forum just to give a review, and all the Verizon Fios customers are trying to figure out what's up. They are giving these away free with their service bundle, but can tell you nothing, I mean nothing. They don't have to because people are willing to walk on coals to sign up. Straight scoop, picture is great on this tv. All the options in the world, so you have to mess with the setup a bit. Hint: choose picture option vivid. Fios is way good enough, standard without HD, on this 19". I say save your HD money for the big screen set. Hooked up Phillips 5982 DVD 1080i upconverter to this, . Way cool resolution and picture. Check out the reviews on that. Also, the sound truly is inadequate, but not a problem, because every 19" is way inadequate. No worries. It has a headphone mini jack output in the back. It also has optical audio out in the back, but that is way overkill for a 19". Back to the mini jack. Hooked up Cambridge Soundworks, , oh my my. You can hook up any PC speakers to this. Went direct, no additional volume control needed. You control the sound through your blaster. It cuts off the TV speakers, like you need those. Also, this TV has the same specs as the Aquos version, except no goofy magnetic remote control. Oh, yeah, use your Fios STB remote to run the TV, DVD and STB. It works great. Follow the insructions provided by Verizon on the remote control, make all the units turn off and on at the same time.

VIZIO VM190XVT 19-Inch XVT-Series 720p LED LCD HDTV I was hesitant to buy this tv because of some of the other reviews but had seen it in a store and decided to give it a try; I was prepared to take it back if I didn't like it. I was looking for something for the kitchen that wouldn't have a large footprint but would be big enough to see the screen and loud enough to hear. I liked the sleek look of the Vizio and it fit under my kitchen cabinets when I wanted to push it out of the way. The picture in the store was fabulous but new it wouldn't necessarily be good at home. We are very happy and I would definitely buy another. The original remote didn't work and fortunately I had a universal remote I could use. I called Vizio and without hesitation they sent me a new remote that I received 5 business days later.

Since the switch to digital we found there were certain shows we could barely hear, even with the volume turned all the way up. The audio on this tv is much better than our previous one, although I wish there were a few more options to set. But for a tv this size, the video, audio, and price are very good.
Great TV Picture - Static Sound Problem - Armour Park - Chicago, IL
The picture quality on this TV is wonderful. I use it in the kitchen and I'm connected to DirecTV HD - so you can't go wrong. I use the DVR Remote, so I cannot comment on the remote. I have been having sound issues since the TV was purchased in December. Vizio tech support had me turn off the HD surround sound features. (Really makes the sound bad - sounds tinny without that on). That fix lasted about a week. Now the TV starts making the static sound after 15 minutes. I have to turn TV on and off to have the sound return to normal. One day I left it alone wondering if it would eventually stop and it was so loud you couldn't even hear voices. I called this morning and was told there is a firmware update to download that will eliminate this problem. I will download that tonight and see if it works. I'll post a comment in a few days if that solved my problem.

Haier HLC19SL2 Black 19-Inch Ultra Slim LED LCD HDTV DVD Combo I love this TV. The DVD is what I use it for primarily. It seems to work just fine. Picture is great, sound is very good and the controller seems easy enough to use. It also had a headphone jack for speakers or headphones which is also nice. It has an input to let you plug in HD components like satellite or even a blu ray player. I actually have my PS3 player hooked to it so I'm getting full high definiton for my movies. If you're going to use the DVD player on the TV itself, be careful not to move the TV while the DVD is running. I did this and it scratched the DVD, but that's pretty much common sense not to move this thing when it's in motion.

My only problem I had with this thing is when I had a DVD that had multiple angles on it. The angle change works fine enough, but for the entire DVD, an "angle" icon stays on the TV. I was unable to find a way to remove it at all. It's very annoying. It only pops up for DVD's that "support multiple" angles which these DVD's are not very common. I was watching a 3 Stooges DVD that one angle was black and white, and the other was color. I'm sure there is a way to remove it, but I could not figure it out. All in all though, great TV. Perhaps a little pricey, but you're getting a good TV, and that's what's important.

Sharp LC19DV27UT 19-Inch 720p LCD HDTV with Built-in DVD Player, Black Flat screen TV with DVD built in player is as described and of good quality images. Connections were easy since DVD player is built in. We have direct cable hook up so a converter box was not necessary. It's a perfect size for a spare bedroom and doesn't take up a lot of room on top of the dresser. Instructions for connecting and programming were easy to follow. I had more trouble registering the product on-line because the exact dimensions were not listed. I had to select the closest one to the TV I had purchased and then insert the change. Hopefully, if there is a problem requiring warranty, that will be sufficient.

We needed a bigger TV and one with a DVD player in it. We replaced a Sharp Aquos which we loved but it didn't have the DVD. Read all the reviews, did all of the research. Should have taken heed to the sound quality portion of the reviews. It is horrible. If the dishwasher is on, you can't hear anything. In addition if you are at more than a slight angle from center, the picture isn't clear. Look for another TV- you'll be unhappy with this one.

I have had this tv for almost 1 year I bought it in marh of 2009 and it worked great until now the dvd player will not accept any dvds I dont want to have to pay so much to ship it in so I am probablly just going to get a standalone dvd player to use with it since the dvd plyer quit working and I have seen so many reviews with bad quality for the built in dvd player portion of thias tv and you can get a much better dvd player which is a standalone dvd player without it being built into the tv

The TV's main problem is there is no HDMI port to connect it with Home Theater sytems. So one must use the other less sutiable methods which I found do not work very well. So I returned the one I purchased for something else which could accomodate such technology. The other big drawback is that it cannot function soundwise with DTS sound technology either which is a main component of most Home Theater A/V amplifiers.

Bought this model less than 3 years ago; moderate use in my home office. It just began acting up this week when the blue front light would come on but no picture... several attempts to power cycle and try again was usually successful after 2 -15 tries....but kept getting longer and longer between successes. Tried multiple inputs but even the on-screen menu wouldn't appear during this time. Sometimes I'd get a quick white flash, then nothing. Westinghouse customer service on-line was not much help... looks like its ready for the recycle heap. I expected at least 5 years from this unit.

This is the least played tv in our home. It is only 2 years old. We play it just before we go to sleep for the news. As soon as you turn on this POS it shrieks a horrible high pitched sound then turns off. Takes about 15-25 tries to get it to work.

Never again Magnavox. Forget about it! There should be a law that such inferior products that have such a mass scale problem, should be forced to give us a replacement or credit to get another TV

Sharp LC 19SK24U - 19" LCD TV - widescreen - 720p - HDTV - black I've owned my Sharp LC19SK24U for almost 2 years and used it primarily for a PC monitor at first and now it is a 2nd TV. I bought it on sale for about 0 in Nov 2007, which was about the same price as a stand-alone PC monitor at the time. As a PC monitor, it has an acceptable picture... nothing great.

What I love is being able to switch to the TV with a simple button click on the main remote. (There are 2 remotes.) This saved me from buying a TV tuner for my PC. All you have to do is attach a video cable to it and you're all set. The TV picture is adequate, but not exceptional. Obviously, you can't be too far away from a 19-inch screen to see, but if you do watch from across a room, the tiny speakers must be turned up to max, which isn't very loud at all. There is some distortion at higher levels, which is expected from a small TV. However, if you want better sound, hook auxiliary speakers to the rear jacks. There is a nice feature that automatically adjusts the brightness according to the ambient light in the room, which is handy at night.

There are 2 remotes. One full-featured one and a small basic one that magnetically attaches to the base, (or your refrigerator for that matter if you use it in the kitchen.) The basic remote has a built-in LCD clock & timer, on/off, volume and channel up/down. There are two sets of input RCAs on the back, S-video, HDMI, an analog PC jack, and a small ?mm headphone jack.

Overall, it's a good small TV.

Sharp LC-C5277UN 52" AQUOS LCD Widescreen HDTV I bought this TV from local club store last week. I believe the club stores are the only place to find this particular model number, but from the research I did online, it is identical to the 52E77U.

Setting up the TV was extremely easy. First you have to attach the stand, then just plug in the power cable and your inputs and turn it on. The first thing that you see when you turn it on is an initial basic setup menu. Once you go through the few questions, then you are all set. I did spend a little time tweaking the settings as you would have to do with pretty much any TV you buy. I found a site that had some users posting their settings and I tried a few of those. I then made a few more adjustments and I found what I feel is the perfect setting combination. The picture quality is truly amazing, very vivid and clear, and everything in HD is just phenomenal.

As far as sound quality, I have not listened to the speakers at all as I am using a seperate receiver for the sound. I would not expect much in the way of quality as these types of TV's are built for picture quality, not sound, and really, I'd be fine if they did not even have speakers.

I cannot find a single thing to be negative about with this set, except for one very odd quirk. With my setup, I have my cable and PS3 running to my ONKYO receiver, which then has one output to the TV. Whenever I first turned on the TV, I got a message about sound not being compatible. I had seen this mentioned on another site, and all I had to do was turn the TV's volume control down to 0, and I never get the message.

One final thought. While doing research on Sharp LCD TV's, there was some mention of banding issues. Everything I could find said this issue was resolved and limitted to some run of screens at one of the factories. I have not noticed any flaws of any sort with my picture. I highly recommend this TV, at least, for the price I paid for it, you get more value than comparable Samsung, Sony, etc. models.

The menu structure for selecting input source is more than a little confusing and when power is cut off to the TV all the settings are lost. Toshiba should have had separate button control to switch from one input to the next but bad user interfaces is pretty much the norm with electronic devices and computers.

But for a small and compact TV and DVD player to use where a larger TV and separate DVD player will not fit this is a great alternative. It has standard VESA mount screws so the base can be detached by removing 2 screws and the TV attached to a wall bracket for use.

Volume is adequate for normal listening but not for a home theater experience. For that it would be best to feed the sound out to a separate amplifier and set of speakers.

I have friends who spent thousands installing a LCD monitor and amp and speakers in their RV when this 0 unit would have served the purpose.

We experienced the same problem noted by many other reviewers. The sound volume and quality problem made this unit pretty much useless for watching DVDs, and worse than useless for watching movies in other languages, where speech clarity is of paramount importance.

We upgraded to the 26" model, which was somewhat better. Only after hooking up a Sony soundbar/woofer system were we able to truly enjoy movies.

ONE BIG PROBLEM: these Toshiba models have only a digital coaxial audio output (no HDMI), and it's hard to find a decent, affordable external system that has digital coaxial input; most don't. The Amazon "technical information" doesn't indicate this severe limitation.

This review is on the monitor section of this guy. I have many monitors, and this one is definitely the worst. There is no resolution that will make this guy look crisp. I have tried both the VGA and the HDMI connectors, Windows XP and Windows 7. No dice. Windows XP as well as windows 7 default (and recommend) that the monitor should work at 1280x720, which is a disaster for a 19 inch monitor. You try to switch it to anything more reasonable like 1440x900 and the monitor insists on going all the way up to 1920x1080 which is HDTV, but then again the picture quality is blurry.

If you're looking for a dual-use TV and Monitor, do not waste your money, obviously the computer interface of this guy is of very bad quality. I have Samsung T260HD which granted is 26 inches, but is also a dual use TV + Monitor and that guy is fantastic. So, if you want a dual-use save your pennies and get something good not this bad quality thing.

VIZIO VA19LHDTV10T 19-Inch ECO 720p LCD HDTV Well it arrove with Target store sealing tape on it. The manufacturer's box with the tv was merely dropped tinto a bigger box and shipped out - - - - no padding, no insulation, no air bags , nuthin' !

I thot the worse... wurst... rust... I didn't think it would work.

I set it on its pedestal; plugged in the antenna cable and the power cord; loaded the handheld remote with batt-ries and pushed the "on" button. I was thinking that this would be the same size as the one it replaced but that one musta been a 16" tv as this one is maybe 15% or so bigger.

From there on it told me "hello"; instructed me to let it set itself up and that was about it. This thing was ready for the evening news in maybe fifteen minutes..... It musta scanned the entire solar system for channels 'cause it now brings in BOTH PBS alternatives and channels I didn't even know existed. I am using a Channel-Master Omni mounted up in the attic with a 20 db in-line amp (also purchaced via Amazon).

Sound is adequate but I'm a little hard of hearing anyway.

Vision is remarkable. It don't matter where in the room you are - if you can see the screen reasonably; the pichure is clear..... none of that negative imaging nor funky colors when viewed at an extreme angle - - - - - like the LCD tv in the living room.

The volume and channel buttons are on the rong side of the controller but that's a matter of ergonimics. all the other stuff is pretty much easy to unnnerstand. It even has an AGC for the volumn option. That is to say there's an option that modifies to reasonable average volume those super sound commercial messages that blast between the normally set volume in the rest of the program.

Would I recommend this product? absolutely. Besides having the usual features and connections this one offers a superior viewing angle and a volume AGC.

After buying two HDMI cables, one for my cable box and one for my DVD player, it was ready to play. If you have a home theater system I would assume you already have the optical cable for the DVD player as well. This set is no longer available on Costco online. I did not know anything about Sceptre. I read dozens of the reviews they had. Without the reviews the price made me skeptical about this brand. The reviews were terrific. Since the set is not available there, I came here to Amazon where I've had nothing but great experiences buying stuff. For those like myself, that don't want to waste their time and money on turkeys, I felt an obligation to help, whomever. I love this set. The picture is spectacular. There are lots of adjustments for sound and picture. The PIP is not only sizable in that little extra screen you can move around, it will expand your PIP to approximately 21" side by side with your other picture! Then you can switch the audio. For a sports fanatic like me, well...wow! This set is better, yes better than I expected. For a price so much lower than the Vizio's, Sharp's, Panasonic's, and Sony's, this set is a SLAM DUNK!

I'm back. I've owned this set for 11 months as of this writing. I still love it. FYI: My HD signal is from high speed cable (so I have no opinion on satellite quality). My DVD movies have always played great. My son gave me a blue-ray player for Xmas and the blue-ray picture is as astonishingly sharp as one should expect. I noticed the negative review was not this exact model. Don't understand complaints about contrast or anything else concerning the picture. There are four picture modes, vivid, mild, and standard which are pre-sets with color and contrast etc locked in. The one you'll use 99% of the time is "custom". You can adjust no less than 14 different picture components, from the basics of color, brightness, contrast, hue etc. to fine-tuning adjustments for color temperature (3) and the amount of back-lighting. There is no way you can't adjust this picture to any preference! The only negative (I don't think it's a negative for this price) but the native TV speakers are mediocre at best. I would strongly recommend having your own home theater sound system and this is not even an issue.

I purchased this "ultra slim" TV to mount flush on a wall so that it would stick out from the wall as little as possible. Well, the TV body itself is only 1.5" deep, but the coax cable/antenna connector on the back of the unit protrudes another 3/8", and the smallest low profile right-angle coax connector adds another 3/8", meaning you have to mount at least 3/4" away from the wall to connect the antenna cable.

The supplied power connector from wall wart protrudes 1.25" from back of unit before the wire will bend, meaning the minimum distance from wall is 1.25" unless you find a right-angle power connector and replace the supplied power connector.

All the other connectors such as HDMI, USB, and component video are also on the back of the unit, only slightly recessed, requiring additional space off the wall even with low-profile right-angle connectors. The headphone jack is inconveniently on the back of the unit as well, so you can't plug in headphone if mounted on a wall. USB is on the back too, so although you can play movies from USB memory source, you can't plug in the USB slot on the back if mounted on a wall without using an extension cable.

I was excited to find an ultra-slim TV in a 19" size, but I'm very disappointed because I wanted to mount it flush to the wall which is just not possible with how the cable connectors are located. I'm not sure why they bothered to put VESA mounting holes on the back of it.

Nice try, Haier. Good technology, but poor connector design for what you're trying to sell as an "ultra slim" TV.

Update: Finally mounted about 1" off the wall to make room for various right-angle cable connectors behind it. Now I've found that the vertical viewing angle is really really poor even at 20 degrees below level. The spec on Haier's website says 160 degree vertical viewing angle, but that is just plain wrong. At 20 degrees below level all the reds disappear. At 30 degrees below level it looks like a photo negative. At 45 degrees below level the picture is completely invisible.

Also, antenna channel scan finds quite a bit fewer channels than a different brand LCD TV I tried a month or so ago with the exact same antenna location/direction.

As someone stated before in a previous review, I received an email, then a follow-up call after purchasing from Amazon. No problems with shipping either. Now for the TV... Back in December of last year, I had purchased a Vizio (551XVT) from Costco. I had that TV for 3 months, then returned it because it had "shadowing" on the screen. Basically, there was a blemish in the middle of my 55" that I couldn't tolerate since I shelled out 2K. It was a good TV, not great. I then decided to try an LG (55LH90) which was also a good TV, even better than the Vizio. I decided I was going to keep that until I saw this TV drop in price dramatically. Both of the previous Tv's had the local dimming/backlit like this one, but the difference is Sony's red, green and blue bulbs that I think make a difference in picture quality. Everyone's taste is different and people will tell you that their TV rivals anyone else's...blah,blah,blah. I'm not one to go and brag about a purchase, but I will tell you to check this TV out as it is worth the price. It's two years old, but I can tell you it's as good as the LCD's/ Plasmas that are coming out today. I researched mainly LCD's because glare is an issue in my living room. No problem there as this TV has a matte screen. Ironically, I was looking at the new models this year and many of them have the ultra-clear panel, which is glossy. I think the 3-d Tv's are nice, but to me, if I'm going to watch 3-D, it will be in a theater, not in my home. Plus, there isn't much content out right now to justify dropping 3-4k. Once I got this TV hooked up and got the settings to my liking, I was very impressed and happy that I waited. It probably won't be in stores anymore as it is 2 years old. But, see for yourself, read all the other reviews and go to CNet too as they gave this TV a really good score. I am very picky and don't have any quams about returning products if their not up to my standards. I ordered this blindly and would definately recommend it. PS3 and Hi-Def are gorgeous...

I purchased this Magnavox TV about 2 years ago. In recent weeks, whenever the unit is turned on, there is a loud screach that sounds like a cross between chalk on a blackboard and enraged Harpies with PMS. Then the sound typically turns off, then the picture goes blank. Sometimes the unit turns itself off, only to turn back on, and sometimes remains off. This goes on for about 15 minutes, after which time, everything seems to be quite normal. Magnavox will not not take any responsibility for their woefully inadequate product, siting that the unit is no longer under their woefully inadequate 1 year warranty. I will NEVER buy a Magnavox product EVER AGAIN. I am completely dissatisfied.

Samsung LN19C350 19-Inch 720p 60 Hz LCD HDTV (Black) I like the size of this TV. It takes up much less room on the counter in our kitchen. We replaced a 14" tube TV. The cable box connected to the new set does not bring in hi def picture and sound as we don't have the room on the counter for the larger converter box. This may cause the signal to this set to be an analog signal and therefore the picture is not as bright and colorful as our 1080P Bravia set. This set is capable of 720P resolution.

Another major difference is we must turn the volume up much louder than the Toshiba TV we had there before. A sound level of 20 on the old set was loud. Needed sometimes to overcome the noise in a kitchen and still hear the TV. This set requires we turn up the volume to a level of near 60, 3 times louder, to hear programming at times. I was surprised, since that is more than half of the total volume capable on the set.

I've also made adjustments to color level, contrast, sharpmess and tint to get a better picture since installing the set.

Otherwise we haven't had the set long enought to make other comments.
Don't go by the Amazon Photos! - G-Man - Virginia
I checked out the photos on Amazon, and it shows two HDMI ports. When I got it it only has one. As a matter of fact, they photo of the back of the TV on Amazon is NOTHING like what I got.

Now, that said, this was an excellent TV, great picture, and I have two other Samsung TV's. I just want people to realize that the photo is not correct.

I had to return this and get another brand because of the PORT issue alone. Do not hesitate to get this if you do not need two HDMI ports.

Sansui HDLCD1900 19-Inch ATSC/CLEAR QUAM LCD HDTV I needed a smaller 19" digital TV for a bedroom. This fit just about what I wanted. However...
This is NOT a true 19" television, if you view the picture in a normal sense, it is only a 16 " TV. To view full screen of a normal picture, the image is either cropped(top-bottom) or is stretched, which makes for an odd sensation while viewing.
Also, if you use a home theatre, you'll need to turn the sound on the TV off as the sound lags a micro-second behind the home theatre, giving a tinny, echo effect.
Colour is good and the HD from local channels is good. I have heard of a 'slurring' on cheaper HD sets but I saw none with this. Set-up was a breeze and the connections were fairly placed and semi-easy to use.
All in all, it is a good TV but i could have used those extra 3 inches.

I bought this TV because it was the only model available in my price range in stock. Should have waited.
As has been mentioned in other reviews, the sound is barely adequate, and that's if it's being viewed without any outside noise interference at all. An electric fan can drown it out.
The picture is good. No complaints there. Reliability is terrible. Sometimes when the power is turned on no picture will appear. The unit needs to be unplugged for several seconds, then retried. This sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. Sometimes the volume and mute function can be controlled by the remote; sometimes not. Sometimes adjusting the volume results in the TV turning itself off. The sales associate at Target confirmed that they have had numerous complaints and returns of this model, and suggested that I exchange it for a different brand.

If the model I had purchased functioned at its best consistently, I would give it three stars. Due to reliability issues, one star seems appropriate.

Philips 19PFL5422D 19-Inch LCD HDTV I bought my TV in the spring of 2007. 2 and a half years later, mine still works as good as the day I bought it. The only problem I've had with it is that the "Phillips" letters started falling off a week after I bought it, and now instead of saying "PHILLIPS" it now reads "ILIP," not really something that has anything to do with the quality of the TV. The HD picture is superb, Blu-ray movies look spectacular, and PS3 games look amazing. The sound quality is still good. Maybe I just got lucky, but as I said, my TV is still as good as the day I bought it.

As many other reviewers have noted, the TV was working fine for a year and then started turning itself on and off and making this high-pitched horrible noise everytime it was turned on. The TV would also freeze up in the process.

We also bought a TV/DVD combo (3340V/17) from Philips and the same issue occured. The combo would randomly turn itself on and off and would open and close the DVD holder multiple times before playing. These are terrible products! When I called Philips regarding the issue, the company would not fix it because the one-year warranty had passed. We are now responsible for paying out of pocket for repairs. Given the same consistent issue reported by other users, it is more than likely that there is a defect with these devices.
